Art & Soul Festival
The 27th annual Art & Soul festival starts this month. Art & Soul is a celebration of Black visual art, music, dance, and literature. This year’s featured artists include: Brandon Douthitt (jazz musician), Adrienne D. Jackson (dancer), Jamichael Kyng Pollard (visual artist), and Crystal V. Rhodes (author & playwright).
The festival kicked off with a celebration on Feb. 3 across two venues: an artist showcase at The Cabaret and a First Friday reception at Gallery 924. The public can still visit the gallery to enjoy the exhibit “Kings & Queens: Beyond What Has Happened So Far.” On Feb. 8 the Featured Artist Showcase was held at The Jazz Kitchen, featuring performances by Douthitt and Rhodes, while Pollard created a live painting.
It is not too late to join the celebration. Art & Soul’s final event will be a closing celebration and Wes Montgomery 100-Year Tribute, led by Rob Dixon, on Feb. 25 at the Indianapolis Artsgarden. Meet the artists and enjoy a series of stellar performances as well as food, drinks, dancing, and more. Read more.

Bloomberg also shared some new information about Apple’s efforts to develop its own cellular modems to replace Qualcomm’s. While Qualcomm recently said during its Q4 2022 earnings that it expects to have the “vast majority” of 5G modems for 2023 iPhones, Bloomberg says Apple will use its own modems “by the end of 2024 or early 2025.” Apple will apparently start by using its custom modem in one product and fully transition them over the course of approximately three years.
